Goal Setting

0

Each of us has a filter between our subconscious and conscious mind, called the RAS. Reticular Activating System. Its what makes effective goal setting results powerful. The RAS plays a vital part in our ability to achieve our goals, think of it as a brain filter. It can be deliberately programmed, and it can’t distinguish reality and imagination. So if we “act as if” or believe something is real, our conscious sends messages to the subconscious, via the RAS, that what we believe to be true, is indeed true. We can believe our way to a more successful life. How do we do that?

First, create the vivid specific mind picture of our goal. Create also the steps, the sub goals it takes to get us to the success we desire. State them in the present tense to others, and to yourself, as if they have already happened. For if you state as a want, your subconscious mind thinks there is something lacking. And if you state it in the future tense, the subconscious mind will wait to make it happen. Present tense talking shifts the psychic and mental posture of yourself and of those around you as well.

Next, hand write your goals, and then the sub goals to get you there.
You are wanting to imprint the goals into your subconscious. That mind-body connection imprints them on our subconscious more powerfully. Frequency as well is more effective, so create goals every week. The bonus of this is it becomes a powerful time management tool as well.

Then, post your goals prominently.
The more frequently we see them, we are reminded of them and they are more deeply in-trained in our subconscious.

And then choose people to be accountable to. People who believe in you, and who have developed their own success habits. Give them your goals that you wrote down, see if they think the goals are understandable, and achievable. If they are written down so others can understand them, your subconscious can also understand them. Then ask the people if they are available and willing to be an accountability partner with you, to assist you in staying on track.

And finally, review. Each week, as you write out your goals for the coming week, determine if you met your last week goals or not. Send that information to your accountability partners as well. At the end of 4 weeks, have a master mind meeting to go through your successes in reaching your goals for the past 4 weeks. Review yourself so you have constant improvement.

The steps outlined here will help you achieve any goal you set your mind to.
